Frequently asked questions.

Are your emeralds natural?

Yes. Every stone we offer is a natural emerald, formed in the ground, never laboratory-grown or synthetic. Anything other than a natural emerald would be stated plainly.

Where do your emeralds come from?

We source from three of Colombia’s finest mining regions: Muzo, Chivor and Coscuez, all in the Boyacá department. Each mine produces stones with distinct character; we select only the finest from each.

Are your emeralds treated?

As with almost all emeralds, most of ours have had their natural surface-reaching fractures filled to improve clarity, a long-standing and accepted practice. We disclose the degree of any treatment and wherever possible it is confirmed on an independent laboratory report.

Do stones come with certification?

Stones and parcels of consequence are accompanied by documentation from an independent gemmological laboratory confirming that the stone is a natural emerald, its treatment level, and, where the laboratory can determine it, its origin. Ask us what accompanies a particular stone.

How do I buy or reserve a stone?

We currently work by enquiry rather than online checkout. Tell us what you are looking for and we will send what is available, with certification and price. Terms are confirmed in writing before any payment is made.

Do you supply the trade, melee and parcels?

Yes. Alongside individual stones, we supply colour-matched melee and rough parcels to designers, manufacturers and houses.

How is pricing determined?

Emerald is priced on colour first, then clarity, cut and carat, together with origin and treatment level. Because fine single-origin material is scarce, price per carat rises steeply with quality and size. Prices are quoted per stone on enquiry.

How do you ship and is it insured?

We ship worldwide by secure, insured, tracked courier requiring a signature on delivery. Full details are confirmed before dispatch.

What about customs, duties and VAT?

Import duties, VAT or GST and any clearance fees are set by the destination country and are the recipient’s responsibility. We will help you understand what may apply, but cannot assume these charges.

Do you accept returns?

Return terms are agreed in writing before purchase and depend on the item. A stone that has been set, altered or damaged cannot be returned. Ask us about the terms for a specific stone before you commit.

How should I care for an emerald?

Gently, warm soapy water and a soft brush, never ultrasonic or steam cleaning and kept away from heat and chemicals.

Can I view a stone before buying?

Private viewings are arranged by appointment and by introduction. Enquire to arrange one.

Terms & conditions.

These terms govern your use of this website and any enquiry or purchase you make with Aqueous International Ltd (Hong Kong) (“we”, “us”, “our”), trading as Vetas Reserve. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.

1. About this site

This site presents Colombian-origin emeralds and an educational library. It does not currently offer online checkout; purchases are arranged by enquiry.

2. Enquiries and orders

An enquiry is not a binding order. A sale is formed only once we confirm the specifics, stone, price and terms, in writing and payment is arranged. We may decline any enquiry at our discretion.

3. Descriptions, certification and colour

We describe stones accurately and, for stones of consequence, provide independent laboratory documentation of nature, treatment and (where possible) origin. Screens differ; on-screen colour is a guide, not an exact representation of a stone.

4. Pricing and availability

Stones are largely one-of-a-kind. Availability and prices may change without notice until a sale is confirmed. Prices are quoted on enquiry.

5. Payment

Payment terms are confirmed in writing, typically by bank transfer or card as agreed. Title passes on receipt of cleared funds in full.

6. Shipping, title and risk

Stones are sent by insured, tracked, signature-required courier. Risk passes on delivery. Import duties and taxes are the recipient’s responsibility.

7. Returns

Returns are as agreed in writing prior to sale. Stones that have been set, altered or damaged are not returnable.

8. Intellectual property

The content of this site, including text and images, is owned by or licensed to us and may not be reproduced without permission.

9. Provenance and independence

“Vetas Reserve” is a trading name of Aqueous International Ltd (Hong Kong). We are an independent purveyor of Colombian emeralds sourced from Muzo, Chivor and Coscuez and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a certifying body of any mine, certification body or industry body.
